She and her fiancé, Shane Bauer and friend Josh Fattal are waiting the verdict of their long awaited trial for crossing into Iran accidentally. They were arrested and charged with espionage. Sarah was detained in solitary confinement for 410 days before she was released for health reasons. Shane and Josh remain there.

i don’t know about you guys, but as an american, there’s? no way i’m going anywhere near the iran-iraq border unless i’m in the marines, a mercenary, a warlord, a terrorist, or a spy. it’s kind of hard for me to believe that those people were just going on a leisurely hike along the iran-iraq border. not saying they’re for sure spies, but i would be really surprised if they weren’t.
It’s fascinating to see how gullible the Sierra club has become to outside influences.
Not only have you allowed your once fine organization to become hijacked by communists to get Marxist laws passed that masquerade as “environmentalism”, but now you’re allowing Sarah Shourd, one of the Jewish spies to use your agency to push for the release of her fellow tribesmen.
Even though I feel bad for them being captured… the whole debacle was essentially their fault. You don’t go into Islamic shark-infested waters and think you are going to be safe as an American. Honestly I think you even deserve it for supporting ruthless barbaric terrorists such as the palestinians or the syrians.

Take a look at Mexico our neighbor…do you want to chance a hike into the wilderness in that country? #30,000 people dead from drug wars which I’m sure are linked to the gov’t. I love Mexico, but no more will I be entering anywhere near that country and govt.

Sounds like a horrible experience. I hope Shane and Josh are freed soon. I understand the need to go see something new but why in such a dangerous place. I do not mean to sound crass but WTF hiking in IRAQ!?
